I like the fact that you cite dietary differences in regards to life expectancy, "There are a variety of reasons posited for that, but some major reasons can be dietary differences and lower smoking incidence". At my recent PCP visit i was discouraged from loosing more than 5 pounds and my BMI was 29. I am on the way to loosing nutritionally more than that. What is the mathematics of your diet? Prevention remains paramount.

well, my diet sucks, and that's a fact

To be fair, I have a more varied diet bc of Stu -- he's the main cook, and knows more about nutrition than I do (he was a strict vegetarian when it was difficult, so he had to learn -- and I've gotten the benefit. He's back to omnivory now).

I have been looking into intermittent fasting & cutting carbs. I do eat a lot more seafood and naturally fermented foods bc of Stu. We do like Japanese cuisine, and Stu cooks a kind of Japanese fusion style (uses miso in place of lots of Western ingredients)

I am on https://www.virtahealth.com/. It is all mathematics to me now. Counting carbs, protein, and fats (to a lessor extent).
