The thing is -- the KJV has had huge influence on English literature and culture beyond religion. So if I want to use a quote from the Bible for non-religious purposes, I prefer using the KJV. It has literary resonances other translations don't have.
And I wasn't kidding about it being the greatest literary work by a committee -- check out the book: God's Secretaries by Adam Nicolson. It tells the story of how the KJV got compiled and published.
