I just listened to your podcast. Thanks for the additional detail, but it confirmed my above assumption that the emphasis with all are on revenue streams. Thanks
Unfortunately two of the three ‘Chicago’ links are paywalled by Crain’s Chicagobusiness. I noticed the Harris proposal only had the CPD increasing their contribution. There weren’t enough details to understand why other pensioner groups weren’t being asked to increase contributions or how much of an increase the recommended CPD contribution is from current levels.
Without reading the others I am not 100% confident in the next statement but, I assume no one said the Illinois Constitution needs to be revised to remove/revise the text “… the benefits of which shall not be diminished or impaired.”
Well dang. I was able to get at the Crain's material (though not a subscriber), but perhaps bc I had gone through the Harris School links themselves as opposed to me linking them myself.
I did sign up for the Harris School event on Thursday, so perhaps I will be able to do a follow-up on these presentations.
And yes, none of the finalists said "Change the benefits". It would require changing the Illinois State Constitution (from 1970).

Sorry CPD and CFD.

And for those new to the Illinois pension problem in general, here is the bit about the 1970 Illinois state constitution:
