I really do have a thing about backyard swimming pools.
I believe it was the Freakonomics guys who brought the risk level to my attention years ago, even before I was an actuary. And then I remembered about how freaked out my grandma would get about drowning risks....
While I don't want pools banned, I do want people to take drowning risks seriously. I re-post pieces on drowning risks every summer, because it's one thing that just freaks me out.
