I hate DST. it takes me a week in both spring and fall to adjust. At least technology has caught up to the point I no longer have to change e.v.e.r.y. s.i.n.g.l.e. appliance in my house. Even my thermostat self-adjusts.
I went to a hospital Sunday to visit a friend. None of the clocks had been reset. Not sure if that was deliberate so they could pay staff for shorter hours, or so that they didn't have to pay the one maintenance guy who could reset the clocks a wage of double time for working on Sunday..
I was being snarky -- Jane the Actuary lives in the suburbs of Chicago...
....in my corner of NY, there are kids who live only a few blocks from the school who get on the bus to get there. I shake my head. I suppose they don't want to cross the road, as it's true, some of the drivers are not particularly careful on the rural roads (and we don't have any sidewalks), but man.

There are still plenty of kids in NoVa outside the beltway walking to school.

It was a breath of fresh air living in AZ. The heat over there is another matter!
