It's leading causes of deaths, totals and rates, 1900-1998 - essentially the best dataset on mortality I am aware of in the US pre Wonder records. You know of anything better before I tediously convert this to a spreadsheet myself?
I've done stuff reaching back only to 1968, not back this far (so far), by cause of death.
The mortality.org folks still are only doing rates, not cause of death, but let me see if I can find something that will convert this PDF, because this is, indeed, a good data source.
