For Comptroller in 2026. Speculation is she will run for Mayor of Chicago. Best Illinois politician in a long time! Actually does her job very well.

Yes, I followed her statements re: the "unpaid bills" items for quite some time.

I cannot imagine anybody wanting to be Illinois Comptroller. That's a thankless job.

I hope she manages to get the audited financials situation in line.

And Susana Mendoza is not running again

You write in the post: As the various downstate police/fire pensions were forced to give up some control over their pension funds (I’m not going to get into this right now), forcing a more centralized audit process will likely speed this up.

I'm a trustee of one of the individual "downstate" pension funds. I think consolidation went well. Will be looking forward to any future posts on that subject...

I'm happy to hear that.

I heard from other people (other plan trustees) pre-consolidation, with respect to problems around all the various plans, and how the consolidation was needed.

I do not delete emails (cough cough), so I may be able to dig up some stuff anonymously and write something up. But maybe not - it depends on how public the info is.

People see a bunch of stuff I write here... but there is a lot of stuff I DO NOT write. I share only publicly available info.

But "little birdies" who email me (marypat.campbell@gmail.com) have been able to point me to places to look, and even when I have what started out as private info, sometimes I've been able to find the appropriate public records to get the pattern I was looking for....

So that's what I'll say about that. ;)
