A few simple things to be thankful for in 2023
An apron, JOY! of Bach, sumo, a fleece, and hunting Pokemon with my son
Howdy all!
I said I’d be happy today, so let’s be light and happy!
Thanks for the apron (in advance!)
One of the podcasts I regularly listen to is Drinking with the Saints, in which Mike and Alexandra Foley share a cocktail recipe, stories from the lives of the saints, and some other interesting stories.
If you listen to the most recent episode, on Blessed Miguel Pro and a tequila-based drink, you may hear a familiar name:
Yes, that was me who had looked up the information on Teresa of Avila’s brothers. I actually had found it on Spanish language sites and needed to use google translate to check, but I’m used to doing this sort of research.
Viva Christo Rey!
(Christ the King is the upcoming Sunday)
Bach Time!
Hey, why not a Bach cantata?
Look, it’s only a half hour.
If that’s too much for you, just go to the very end. The last three minutes.
You’ll recognize it.
SUMO!
I’ve been having fun over in my new substack with my new metric.
Yeah, I’m just wallowing in my nerdity.
That’s actually pretty simple as metrics go.
But there really has been fun sumo in this tournament, and it’s a toss-up as to who will win the tournament this weekend. The “new kid” Atamifuji has been doing great, the sanyaku have been doing … mixed.
Anyway, here is a sumo meme.
Yeah, it’s old. I don’t care.
New fleece
Cozy!
Family (and Pokemon)
Just a few silly pics as an outro - when I finally broke down and got a smartphone after holding out for decades, I decided to play Pokemon GO, as I have some friends who play it.
But I play it a little differently.
I’ve mentioned a few times my youngest child is autistic — he is also a ham for photos. So he likes to go out with me, and take pictures with the Pokemon.
I also inflict it on other family members.
Yeah, Stu wasn’t enthused.
But my son loves it!
He loves going Pokemon hunting!
One gets one’s joy where one can. It’s the little things that make me smile.
Happy Thanksgiving!
